One of the potential natural attractions for tourism development in Maluku Province is the existence of marine parks with coral reefs and beautiful wide clustered around the island of Banda Neira and the Big Island.
Coral reefs in the Banda Islands is one of the wealthiest will rock types among the other reefs in the world. Of 700 species of coral in the world of about 432 species of coral (64%) are in the Banda Islands.

Marine parks have been officially designated as Nature Reserves / Parks Banda Sea with the Minister of Agriculture Decree No. 221/Kpts/Um/4/1977 dated 25 April 1977 covering 2500 ha.
Government Administratively, Park Nature Reserve Banda Sea is included in the Banda district, Level II Regional District of Central Maluku.



POTENCY
Nature Reserves / Banda Sea Park has outstanding potential, among others are:
  • Coral reef communities are sufficiently large and compact complete with a diversity of naturally high enough mollusks.
  • Flora consists of various types of seaweed.
  • Various types of birds such as king prawns forest (Halcyon macleayii), red legs gangsa stone (Sula sula), and ornamental fish in various sizes and colors.

 
FACILITIES

Some of the existing facilities at the Nature Reserve / Park Island Banda Sea to the present, among others:

  • 1 (one) Pondok building work
  • 1 (one) fruit Speed-boat
  • 1 (one) and the Garage Harbor Speedboat
  • There are several hotels / inns in Banda Neira
 ACTIVITY
Some of the activities currently carried out within the framework of the management and utilization Nature Preserve / Park Island Banda Sea, among others:
  • As a tool or lab to study marine ecosystems
  • As a place for recreation and nature tourism, swimming, diving, scuba-diving, snorkeling and others

HOW TO REACH THE AREA
To reach the nature reserve area / Banda Island Marine Park, are among other ways:
  • From Ambon to Banda (Neira) by using an airplane with a travel time of about an hour or by using a ship, with a travel time of about 8 hours.
  • From the island of Banda (Neira) can be directly entered into the area by boat chartered by the travel time approximately 1 hour.
